Dr. Christian Barnes (he/him)

PT, DPT, ACSM-EP

Physical Therapist in Washington, DC | Sports and Orthopedic Rehab | Dry Needling

Dr. Christian Barnes is a Washington, DC physical therapist and U.S. Air Force veteran who helps active adults meet their health goals, whether it’s coming back from an injury, striving for a new milestone, or anywhere in between.

His passion for helping people move and perform began over a decade ago in the Air Force. As a Senior Airman he led teams in harsh circumstances, and while deployed he designed and ran group fitness and wellness programs for the airmen around him.
Christian was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, where you say hello to everybody, (and he still does). He will ask how your week went before he asks about your knee, and somewhere in the middle of a hard set he will get you laughing.

He starts by listening, builds a plan around movement and strength, and explains what is happening in your body so you are never guessing. He measures progress by what you can do, not just by what your pain score says. You will feel at ease with him, and he will still push you. Christian is diligent about staying close to the newest studies and letting the research inform how he treats.
For the last several years he has treated patients in under-resourced parts of Southeast DC, where he also lives. He passionately believes everyone in this city deserves excellent care, regardless of their means.

Away from the clinic he lifts, runs, and keeps up with his wife and three daughters, so he knows exactly how hard it is to fit exercise and a healthy routine into a full schedule.

He joined The PHYT Collective because he believes you deserve undivided, unhurried attention from someone invested in your goals.

Christian earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Marymount University after graduating summa cum laude with a B.S. in Health Sciences. He is licensed in Washington, DC and Virginia, a certified dry needling practitioner, and an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist.
